Amazon.com Review

Designed for Nambé by New York-based artist Lisa Smith, the crystal Piroett votive reflects the graceful motion of the ballet spin of the same name. Balanced on a compact square base, the votive twists slightly as the sides lift and spread to form a 4-1/2-inch squared rim. Skilled European glassblowers craft Piroett votives of full-lead crystal, the perfect medium for refracting a candle's light. Two or more of these lovely votives brimming with light add a sense of serenity to a dining table, and one makes a thoughtful gift for a friend, hostess, or wedding party member. Other home décor items in the Piroett collection include similarly shaped bowls and vases; all come gift-boxed. Nambé crystal should be washed by hand to preserve its brilliant clarity.

Nambé was founded in 1951 in a village of the same name in scenic northern New Mexico. From the beginning, the company has focused on hand-producing high-quality, functional items such as sand-cast metal bowls and trays with great attention to timeless, modern design. Porcelain and stainless-steel tableware patterns now join Nambé crystal and metal lines, all of which make exceptional gifts for the most special of occasions. Nambé ware has won numerous design awards, has been shown in or recognized by nearly two dozen museums worldwide, and is part of the permanent collections of many, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. --Ann Bieri
