Mikasa: Set of 8 Amber Solaris Votive Holders

My parents purchased these for my mother-in-law's birthday. They were beautiful coming out of the box and my mother in law was excited to go ahead and display them. She decided to put them through the dishwasher so they would be clean and finger print free on display. Unfortunately when they came out of the dishwasher, that beautiful amber color was gone, and they were instead clear glass. Still beautiful, but not what was purchased. It seems the amber is just some sort of clear overpaint on top of the glasses, that can't even last through a wash, which is a bad idea for votive candle holders anyway: If you ever have wax leaking into the holder, you will want to clean it out, and that paint would chip.

Pro: The glass seems to still be decent quality.
Con: The tint is not due to the color of the glass itself but due to an overlaying layer of paint. Chances are that it will come out with time even if you're just wiping them down with a damp cloth to keep the dust off.

My wife loves it. Very high quality glass and impeccable shape. When filled with candle, it creates a dreamy and romantic vibe. It may not be dishwasher safe (as the review below pointed out), so don't try that. The amber color is absolutely gorgeous, and you don't want to lose that.
