As this item is titled a "Garden" Lantern, one would imagine that it is to be used outside. However, the item shows almost immediate signs of rust if left unprotected outside in the elements. So, I'm figuring that this isn't coated with Rustoleum paint? It is for that reason that I'm giving this item only four stars. However, there an excellent plus to this item - it can hold what is called "7-day" glass candles. These are the big 8 1/2" tall candles - and they do fit nicely inside this lantern!
You should know that the glass is shipped unmounted, and you will have to place it in the lantern yourself - only slightly confusing - and if there are rough and/or broken edges, in my case, they didn't show once mounted.
Once past the mounting and outside limitations, this is an item that is pleasant to live with, functional and easy on the eye - blending elegantly into most any atmosphere. It makes a nice statement wherever you place it - just don't leave it...Read more

This lantern is huge! Perfect for out on the deck in the evening with a candle inside, and since it has glass all the way around it, a gust of wind won't blow the candle out. It is very sturdy. Well worth the price. Very nice!
